Sometimes, when everyday life gets in the way, you forget the things that are really important. Things like listening to new music, for instance.
So in the spirit of catching up, I had to go all the way back to December last year when one of Finland’s best dream pop bands, Delay Trees, released their brilliant new single “It’s Not Who You Are”. The track is taken from their upcoming fourth album Let Go, which is due out on March 24th via Soliti.
This year marks the band’s tenth anniversary and they don’t seem to have any shortage of ideas for songs that make you woozy, in the best possible way. I especially like how the lyrics take centre stage in “It’s Not Who You Are”. There’s something to be said for being able to sing a line like “Forget your sad, suicidal thoughts” in such a casual way as Rami Vierula does. Sometimes to “open up the blinds and let the sky in” can be just as easy as Delay Trees make it sound.
Singer/guitarist Vierula also made this karaoke-style video below.
